The International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty (ISTA) invites you to submit abstracts for the Shark Tank innovation competition at this year’s Annual Congress in Nashville, Tennessee!
The Shark Tank session is an exciting component of the program at the annual conference of the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty (ISTA). During this session, inventors are given an opportunity to present their latest invention to a panel drawn from industry and academia.
The Shark Tank submission requires a special format:
1. Introduction/Problem
- Team, founders, board members and advisors
- Market opportunity: define market and customer.
- Market problem (related to arthroplasty): What need do you fill?
2. Solution
- Your novel solution
- Intellectual property
- Competitions
- Competitive advantages
3. Financial data
- Regulatory pathway
- Reimbursements/pricing (key revenue)
- Go-to-market strategy
4. The Ask
- Value proposition
- Capital raise, use of funds
Please note the following ground rules:
- The submission should be in either a PDF or PowerPoint format. Please use this PowerPoint template.
- This opportunity is offered to individual inventors as well as inventors from small commercial entities and academic institutions. Companies with 10 or more full time employees are ineligible.
- Technology incorporated in products already offered for sale prior to the ISTA conference is not eligible.
- Inventions must directly relate to arthroplasty. They can include devices, methods, processes, materials, or software. Innovations can also be in clinical care, patient information, outcomes, navigation, imaging, operating room efficiency, sterility, sensors, digital health, and artificial intelligence, etc.
- Please Note: You are responsible for protecting your Intellectual Property. Before disclosing any innovations to ISTA, including abstract reviewers and conference attendees, presenters are responsible for the legal protection of any information that they wish to keep confidential. One possible method is via a provisional patent. Please check with legal representatives prior to disclosure to ISTA through abstract submission.
If you have an invention and would like to enter the Shark Tank competition, submit a summary as an abstract/entry on www.istaonline.org, enter co-authors, and tag as “Shark Tank (session & competition)” selection from the abstract category list, and email PowerPoint or PDF to organizer@istaonline.org by May 15th 2024 at 11:59pm.
