ISTA ROME ABSTRACTS SUBMISSIONS
READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR WORK
SUBMISSIONS MAY INCLUDE ABSTRACTS FOR THE MAIN ISTA CONFERENCE (podium presentations, short talks or posters), PAPERS FOR THE HAP PAUL AWARD, PAPERS FOR THE EARLY CAREER AWARD, and/or SUBMISSIONS FOR THE SHARK TANK INNOVATION COMPETITION.
TEXT FORMAT (compliant with Bone and Joint Journal Proceedings Instructions)
Starting Text (without bullet points)
- Title (CAP letters)
- Subtitle (if appropriate)
- Authors (first names/initials and surnames only – no titles or qualifications)
- Author affiliations to include institution name, town/city and country (please try to limit affiliations to a reasonable number)
- Contact email address for reader inquiries
The title should be in bold capitals (upper case), flush to the left margin. On a new line, after a line space, the authors’ names should start with their first names or initials (eg. F. Smith, A. C. N. Gray, etc). No medical degrees or appointments should be included.
Leave one line space before beginning abstract.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT POINTS:
- The text of each abstract for the main conference should be no more than 600 words;
- Please do not use bullet points, asterisks, or any non-standard characters if possible – they have a tendency to corrupt or convert into question marks/ square boxes, etc. which then require to be deleted.
- Award papers must be uploaded in Word format on this platform (Exordo), unlimited text and unlimited number of figures and tables are accepted; Authors should insert N/A in the abstract text box during submission and proceed to the upload of the HAP Paul or Early Career award paper submission files.
- Shark Tank submission must be uploaded in Word format on this platform (Exordo), unlimited text and unlimited figures and tables are accepted; Authors should insert N/A in the abstract text box during submission and proceed to upload of shark tank submission file.
Abstract guidelines. Before submitting your abstract to ISTA, complete it in a Microsoft Word document according to the following formatting requirements, then copy/paste your abstract into the abstract portal during submission:
- Write your abstract using 10pt Times New Roman.
- Do not list any author names or institutions in the body of the abstract (reviewers only see blinded abstracts).
- Up to 3 figures may be attached to your abstract during the submission process. Do not include tables or images in the body of your abstract. These figures should be in jpg, gif, png or jpeg format only.
Abstract body format.
- Introduction: State the problem and the purpose of the study.
- Methods: Describe what was actually done.
- Results: Report the findings of the study.
- Conclusion: Relate the problem and purpose of the study to the study’s findings.
- References: (optional)
- Acknowledgements: (optional)
- Keywords: (optional)
Additional information.
- All abstract presenting authors are required to complete conflict of interest disclosures upon submission.
- Maximum of 5 abstracts will be accepted from a single presenting author.
- Please Note: By submitting an abstract, the presenting author is committing to attend the conference in person to present the study described (i.e. substitutions or pre-recorded presentations are not permitted).
- Abstracts will only be accepted from the presenting author (i.e. not affiliated staff or co-authors).
- Each presenting author will be limited to no more than two presentations within the Podium sessions and three presentations within the Short Talk/Poster sessions.
- After the submission deadline, abstracts (including the author list) may not be altered.
- ISTA membership is not required to submit an abstract.
- Abstract acceptance/rejection notifications will be sent to authors by June 30.
